Co-founder of Volunteers’ Help is Marc van der Meer, Dutch living in Germany, in daily business coach and social innovator.
For two weeks, between Christmas and New Year 2015/’16, he volunteered on the beaches of the Greek island Kos and met many international volunteers who gave up their jobs or, like he, took unpaid leave while paying from their own pocket for flights and accommodation. This to be able to help other people in need.
After his return in January 2016, he wasn’t able to work and took half a year sabbatical to reset his mind and to consider how he can do something good for others with a continuously and big impact.
In May 2016 the idea was born. Because not everyone is wiling or able to pay to volunteering as he did, he would like to help them and started the first preparations. More than 1 year Marc struggled with authorities trying to get the charity status in Germany, which failed unfortunately.
In January 2018 the non-profit association „Volunteers’ Help“ was officially founded near to Bern in Switzerland.
